Prof. Dr. Lydia Kater-Wettstädt
Professor of Primary Education, University of Koblenz
Lydia is professor for primary education with a focus and basic and social sciences at the University of Koblenz. One of her key research areas and interests is the implementation of ESD in teacher education to contribute to future school and pedagogical development. In this regard she is e.g. interested in mindfulness oriented approaches and their potential for ESD or school transformation work. As member of the advisory board for the Lole project she wants to share these experiences but also experiences from the development of international and several national professional development courses for teachers on ESD and its implementation in practice.

Klaus Schilling
Federal Coordinator of German UNESCO Project Schools at the German Commission for UNESCO
Klaus Schilling has served as Federal Coordinator of UNESCO Project Schools at the German UNESCO Commission since 2019. Previously, he worked as a teacher and subject advisor for Education for Sustainable Development, as well as an expert for the Hessen Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs in the field of political education and cultural affairs. He gained international experience through his work in memorial education at the Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork (Netherlands) and by coordinating a school partnership with Tanzania that has been recognised multiple times as a model project. He has specific experience with approaches to World Heritage and climate education, in particular through his involvement with “denkmal aktiv” and UNESCO’s “Climate Action Project.”
Prof. Dr. Marc Kleinknecht
Professor, Institute for Educational Science, Leuphana University Lüneburg
Marc Kleinknecht is Professor of School Pedagogy and School Development at Leuphana University Lüneburg. His research focuses on video-based teaching research and the video- and online-based promotion of teachers' skills acquisition. He completed his doctorate at the University of Tübingen and his habilitation at the Technical University of Munich.
Prof. Dr. Marcus Pietsch
Professor of Educational Science, Institute for Educational Science, Leuphana University Lüneburg
Prof. Dr Marcus Pietsch is a DFG Heisenberg Professor of Educational Science, specialising in educational management and quality development, at the Institute of Educational Sciences at Leuphana University. He is currently Dean of Research at the Faculty of Education. His research interests lie in the fields of the education system, school effectiveness, development and innovation, as well as effective leadership in schools.
Dr. Lutz Möller
Deputy Secretary-General, German UNESCO Commission
Lutz Möller is Deputy Secretary-General of the German Commission for UNESCO and Head of its Director of the Policy Division “Education, Science, Culture.” He works at the German Commission for UNESCO since 2004 and has an overall responsibility for ESD. In 2023, he has been a German lead negotiator for the UNESCO Recommendation on Education for Peace, Human Rights and Sustainable Development.
Katarina Rončević
Education expert, Greenpeace
As a member of the editorial board of ZEP – The Journal of International Educational Research and Development Pedagogy, Katarina regularly publishes academic articles on ESD. She has been part of the Greenpeace education team since 2019, where her responsibilities include teacher training, further developments relating to the Whole School Approach, and inclusion.
Prof. Dr. Alexander Siegmund
Vice-Rector for Research, Sustainability and Digitalization, Heidelberg University of Education
Prof. Dr. Alexander Siegmund is Vice-Rector for Research, Sustainability and Digitalization at Heidelberg University of Education, where he is a professor of geography. He is the founding Managing Director of the Heidelberg Center for Education for Sustainable Development and Head of the new Master's degree course in Digital ESD. He is also Chairman of the University Forum as part of the National ESD Platform and spokesperson for the Baden-Württemberg ESD University Network. On the advisory board of the LoLE project Leaders of Learner Empowerment, he contributes his many years of experience in the implementation of ESD projects for different target groups
Emma Steinbrück
Chair of the Young Forum of the German UNESCO Commission
Emma Steinbrück is Chairwoman of the Young Forum of the German Commission for UNESCO as well as part of the Education Committee and the Commission itself. She is studying Studium Individuale at Leuphana University with a focus on politics and sustainability. A former pupil at a UNESCO project school, she has been involved in youth participation formats for many years - with a particular focus on education for sustainable development (ESD). On the advisory board of the LoLE project Leaders of Learner Empowerment, she contributes her young perspective and experience with ESD in various contexts.
Frieda Kühn
Member of youpaN (Youth forum of the National Platform on ESD)
Frieda Kühn is a member of youpaN, the youth forum of the National Platform on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), which was set up by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Together with 30 young people, she is committed to ensuring that the perspectives of the younger generation are incorporated into political processes for the implementation of ESD. This year she graduated from high school and from August will be starting a voluntary ecological year on the island of Spiekeroog. During her time at school, she was head girl for four years and gained experience with school committee work and co-determination. In the LoLE project, she would like to combine my experience from school involvement, youth participation and practical ESD work and thus contribute a young, school-related perspective.
Marie Sievers
