Deepika Joon

Deepika Joon has coordinated the activities of the UNESCO Chair in Higher Education for Sustainable Development at Leuphana University since 2020. She is responsible for communications and reporting and represents the Chair in forums within and outside the university.

She leads the project Teacher Leadership for ESD, implemented in Cyprus, Greece, Germany, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa and Zambia, and coordinates the Euro-Africa Teachers Network on ESD. Earlier she led Politics4Future, a project for student teachers on the links between ESD and Global Citizenship Education. Her doctoral research deals with indicators for teacher leader development, and she teaches a research-based learning module in the winter semester.

Before joining Leuphana, she worked at UNESCO on youth mobilisation for peace, education and sustainable development. She is a CEE Change Fellow of the North American Association for Environmental Education.
