Dr. Salomé Areias

Dr. Salomé Areias is a former PhD candidate of the Sustainability Education Research Group (SERG). She pursued her PhD at the Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research (CENSE) at NOVA School of Science and Technology in Lisbon, supported by an FCT scholarship.

Her doctoral research asked how practices from psychoanalysis and mindfulness can raise consumer awareness. Her wider interest lies in consumer behaviour and in whether transparency in supply chains is enough to move people to act collectively for climate justice.

Salomé studied fashion design and fashion sociology in Lisbon and Buenos Aires. She worked for Science of the Time, Trendwolves and PSFK, taught and spoke on consumer behaviour, worked as a product manager in Ghent, Zhuhai and Luanda, and founded Fashion Revolution Portugal in 2014.
