Research Associate

Dr. Lina Bürgener is a postdoctoral researcher in the group and coordinates the interdisciplinary Transformation module in the Leuphana Semester, which is part of the activities of the UNESCO Chair in Higher Education for Sustainable Development.

Her research and teaching focus on (higher) education for sustainable development, sustainability competencies and new teaching and learning formats. She is particularly interested in transdisciplinary teaching developed together with practice partners such as education stakeholders, companies, NGOs, cultural institutions and municipalities, and in how theory and practice can be linked so that all sides learn from one another. She is also part of the DBU-funded project ProBioTIC, which develops learning interventions to promote biodiversity in the Carpathian region.

Before taking over the module, she was Managing Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development and Learning (ISDL), where she coordinated national and international research projects and funding proposals and helped shape the work of the UNESCO Chair. Earlier, as a research associate at the Zukunftszentrum Lehrerbildung (ZZL), she set up a transdisciplinary development team to embed ESD in teacher education.
